Mohawk Industries District Manager (Residential) - Washington & Alaska in Washington

Currently looking for a District Manager (Residential) to cover Washington (except Spokane & Tri-Cities) & Alaska.

The District Manager will be over a team of Territory Managers. Territory Managers are given incentives to grow their business! Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Manages and directs Territory Managers within assigned geographic area. Designs, recommends and implements sales and marketing programs. Sets short term sales strategies and tactics and consults on long term sales strategies and tactics. Oversees the development of competency in assigned Territory Managers; recruits, trains, appraises and develops sales staff, and participates in annual budget preparation. Typically reports to General Sales Manager.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Routinely participates in Sales Calls with Territory managers. This includes but is not limited to: traveling to customers and potential customer’s facilities utilizing persuasive sales and negotiation techniques to supplement Territory Manager's selling efforts. Answers any customer questions concerning a product or service, with appropriate referrals where required. Evaluates Territory Manager performance during these visits and provides constructive feedback on techniques, selling strategies and tactics.

  • Monitors District performance against established objectives/guidelines and takes the appropriate action to improve performance.

  • Provides first level management review of customer service issues or disconnects with marketing policies; communicates aggregate customer requirements and requests support from other departments as necessary; summarizes product specific customer feedback (i.e. product features, quality, functionality, competition, possible sales results, etc.) to sales and marketing managers as appropriate to assist in achieving company’s mission, vision and objectives.

  • Assists in establishing sales objectives for the District in conjunction with the General Sales Manager/ RVP. Ensures sales activities in the District comply with established policies, procedures and practices, using good judgment and decision-making to ensure corporate ethical and professional standards of conduct are maintained in the absence of formalized guidelines.

  • Stays abreast of analyses and informs senior management of industry, product, economic, and other changes that may impact sales and overall company business; provides timely summary of activities in the field and special reporting to assist in the business and product planning.

  • Performs analysis on District opportunities and develops forecast for sales by product and other statistical reports as required on a timely basis; identifies additional activities, training or materials necessary to achieve specific product sales goals in key accounts and markets; responsible for identifying and continuously improving activities that can affect customer perception.

  • Approves a territory coverage plan, which defines the type of support and frequency of customer contact required to meet territory goals.

  • Approves and processes legitimate Territory Manager expenses. Provides recommendations for expense budgets; manages business expenses in accordance with corporate guidelines; ensures all assigned company owned equipment, vehicles, documents, materials, etc. in the District are used, maintained and stored as required and in accordance with company policy.

  • Performs other duties as required by management

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Competencies and Supervision: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent required.

Thorough knowledge of Mohawk products, distribution options, sales strategies and programs.

Sales & marketing and product development background, ability to manage a large decentralized sales force, knowledge of manufacturing process.

At least three years direct sales experience in product area, thorough knowledge of assigned products.

  • Demonstrated people management and effective customer relations skills.

  • Excellent presentation, oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact and negotiate with internal and external customers and business contacts, at all organizational levels; ability to communicate with others in antagonistic situation using appropriate interpersonal methods to reduce tension and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards.

  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate and analyze industry, general business and statistical and financial data.

  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity in developing effective sales and marketing strategies and tactics.

  • Proficient using a PC, thorough understanding of in-house financial and sales reporting database systems

Other Pertinent Job Information: (Such as: American with Disabilities Act- ADA requirements for certain hourly positions).

Up to 50% domestic travel via land and/or air. May be required to lift and move up to 100lbs without lifting aids. Vision requirements are comparable to that which is required to maintain a valid driver’s license. 100% body movement is required to successfully perform the job, such as standing, reaching, climbing, use of all major limbs, etc.
