Mine Engineering

  • Ensuring a high level of leadership in safety standards and procedures that meet local rules and regulation

  • Executing mine production plans in a safe and cost-effective manner to ensure targeted quantities are consistently delivered

  • Oversees ore control program that involves material testing, planning and stockpiling of ore that will satisfy production and quality control requirements

  • Engineers, maintains, and ensures compliance with mine plans which represent short term (1-2 years) and long term (2-5 years)

  • Ensures that all operational components of mine planning are in place, including life of mine waste rock and overburden storage, groundwater monitoring, and surface water monitoring and management.

  • Assists with determination of methods to extract minerals, considering factors such as safety, operational costs, deposit characteristics, surrounding strata, overburden depth, road access and haulage distance.

  • Assists with analysis of labor requirements, equipment needs, and operational costs to compute and prepare annual budget reports. Prepares reports as directed.

  • Designs, implements, and monitors facility projects, such as water and power supply, drainage, conveyor systems, and material crushing and sizing.

Pit Operations Supervisor

  • Schedule work of the team and motivates workforce to accomplish both location and company objectives

  • Administer and communicate company policies and operating procedures to promote an effective team

  • Confers with operations, maintenance, and mine manager, as appropriate, to resolve problems affecting operations.

  • Coach and/or hold employees accountable when requirements are not being met

  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports, which focus on the real contributions each person has made or improvement opportunities identified.

  • Experience with heavy mining equipment maintenance and perform root cause analysis when issues are identified

  • May participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult task

  • Consult with the team and seek contributions from the team members.

  • Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and may direct remedial action

  • Prepares estimates of materials and equipment requirements for projected work activities

  • Maintains an inventory of parts and accurate production records

  • Review and supply resources necessary to complete work.

  • Understand the relationship between operations and maintenance and strive to continuously improve.

  • Supervise all Pit Operations and Pit Maintenance employees

  • Conduct in incident investigations in a thorough and timely manner

  • Responsible for directing work of outside contractors/vendors

  • Performs other duties as required

Education & Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience. Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required.

Experience:

  • 5 - 10 years working in a mine environment at a supervisory level. Skilled in resolving day-to-day questions/problems regarding equipment, materials, methods and procedures needed to complete projects.
