The Customs Compliance Manager is responsible for the overall implementation and management of a Corporate Trade Compliance Program. This person will be responsible for day-to-day operational issues to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manage Corporate self-filing Customs operation to include U.S. Customs entries, Foreign Trade Zone entries, Duty Drawback and ISF.
Manage corporate supply chain and Customs compliance programs including CTPAT and ISA.
Manage import compliance for multiple company divisions
Prepare and file Duty Drawback claims
Manage new product tariff classification process and update central databases of Harmonized Tariff numbers for both the U.S. and Canada.
Mange trade agreements such as NAFTA, GSP and similar programs.
Monitor Anti-Dumping and Countervailing Duty import regulations.
Interface with U.S. Government agencies such as CPB, USDA, EPA FDA & F&W
Oversee internal self-assessment audits in areas such as Harmonized Tariff numbers, valuation, country of origin, document retention and FTA. Lead and respond to any external Customs compliance audits.
Oversee maintenance of import records, compliance manuals and SOP’s
Manage, collaborate and audit outside Customs brokers. Review and approve new service providers.
Work collaboratively with and provide proactive import/export compliance guidance and training to various internal stakeholders such as Int’l. Transportation, Purchasing, Finance and Warehouse groups.
Work collaboratively with in-house attorneys and outside counsel to ensure compliance with applicable laws or regulations or in support of Customs related litigation matters.
Research foreign import/export regulations as it relates to company’s import/export activities.
Respond to all CF28 or CF29.
Education and Knowledge:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
University degree with a focus on supply chain or business administration preferred
7+ year of extensive experience with U.S. Customs import/export regulations and operations.
Corporate importer experience managing Customs compliance groups in multiple locations preferred.
Customs Brokerage License required
Experience with ABI, FTZ, Duty Drawback and ISF software.
Experience with ACE portal.
Strong skills in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
SAP experience a plus.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
