Associate (Management Trainee)
April 2011 – April 2012

After graduating from The University of Georgia with a B.B.A. Degree in Marketing, I’ve enjoyed rapid career growth at Mohawk and began my career at Mohawk as part of our Associate Development Program on the Management track at our Summerville, GA facility. This was one of my most intriguing assignments – it’s where we recycle more than 7 billion plastic bottles annually; that are part of our manufacturing process for our EverStrand product – the world’s most sustainable carpet that contains 100% recycled content.

I completed a series of rotation assignments at various locations that helped broaden my knowledge of the technical aspects of our manufacturing processes. To set me up for further success, Mohawk invested a lot in my development through various continuous process improvement training programs. I had the privilege of preparing for my Six Sigma Green and Black Belt Certifications from one of our very own Master Black Belt Trainers.

After graduating from the Associate Development Program, I became a Lean Manufacturing Operations Analyst in 2012 and was later promoted after 9 months to a Senior Production Manufacturing Specialist in 2013. I spent 14 months in this position before being promoted for the 2nd time to a Senior Production Manager in 2014 and spent another 14 months before being promoted for a 3rd time in Aug 2015.

Aug 2015 – June 2016

Along the way, I’ve had several mentors from top-down (Vice Presidents, to Directors, to Line Managers, and Frontline team members) who raised the bar for me each time, while still providing that much needed support from the top. They each played an integral role in helping me to succeed in subsequent leadership positions I’ve held throughout the last 5 years.

The pinnacle of my career came when I made the shift from leading a team of 240+ employees as a Senior Production Manager into a leadership role as a Commercial Sales Operations Manager. This was definitely new territory for me and although I was nervous, I was not afraid of a challenge.

This role was not only a confidence booster for me, but disclosed that I was capable of coming into “uncharted waters” to add value in such a short time.

July 2016 – Present

I’m actually excited to wake up every morning, as I’m always learning something new at our beautiful facility – Light Lab Design Center. You can experience a 360° breathtaking view of our building that was actually the first Living Building Challenge Petal Certified Project in the entire state of Georgia.

Our team is faced with opportunities every day and the decisions we make continually have an impact on Mohawk’s bottom-line. The game is what I like and I’m very competitive!
