Responsibilities

  • Provide staff level support in tax compliance, specifically in the preparation of state and local property, sale and use, and income tax incentive reporting.

  • Ensures that company complies with periodic tax payment, information reporting, and other taxing authority requirements.

  • Provides input regarding effects of business activities on taxes, and on strategies for minimizing tax liability.

  • Research State Income, Sales and Use, and Property tax incentive opportunities and prepare necessary forms / documentation for periodic reporting.

  • Consult with business units as it relates to site selection to determine jurisdictions offering the most favorable tax position from a comprehensive tax liability standpoint (Income, Sales and Use, and Property Taxes).

  • Lead the Property Tax Compliance and Reporting Engagement with third party service provider (Currently Ryan), and prepare required payment vouchers.

  • Monitor Tax Abatement Agreement Compliance, prepare reports in accordance with local jurisdiction requirements, and consult with business units when any shortfall exists or may exist with regard to jobs and investments thresholds.

  • Prepare the Annual Property Tax Budget with consideration to forecasted capital expenditures, disposals, creation or expiration of property tax abatement agreements, and changes in local property tax rates.

  • Prepare Corporate Federal Proforma and State income tax returns with clear understanding of the underlying numbers and mechanics of the tax return.

  • Calculate federal and state quarterly estimated tax payments based on information provided from quarterly provisions. Prepare numerous tax vouchers, coordinate checks and certified mailings for tax estimates and extensions.

  • Prepare and analyze financial and tax accounts, records and reports. Computes taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws and regulations. Monitor state tax laws changes and analyze their impacts to the Company.

  • Collect data in preparation of federal, state tax audits and respond to various tax authorities’ notices and inquiries, as they relate to tax incentives and property taxes.

  • Provide support to team members and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, required. CPA a plus.

  • Understanding of Property Tax compliance reporting, property tax abatements. (negotiations, applications, and compliance reporting)

  • Understanding of State Income and Sales Tax incentives (negotiations, applications, and compliance reporting)

  • Computer Skills in MS Office and spreadsheet applications. (MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.

  • General knowledge of tax concepts, terminology, and practices

  • General knowledge of MS: Word and Access. Advance knowledge of MS Excel.

  • Functional knowledge of the following departmental database systems: JD Edwards, SAP and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)

Competencies:

  • Familiar with and ability to apply general knowledge in the absence of oral/documented guidelines related to the Company’s departmental procedures, practices and standards

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to conduct tax research using tax research system on Internet such as CCH IntelliConnect, RIA Checkpoint, BNA Tax Portfolio.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedural manuals. Must effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, propositions, percentages and volume. Ability to apply concepts

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, diagram or schedule form.

  • Perform with limited latitude for independent action and judgment within the framework of the job. Verify work in the context of recommendations for action to department manager

  • Must work well with others and interact with various company personnel outside the tax department
