Mohawk Industries Director Quality Assurance in CALHOUN, Georgia

Overview

Develop and coordinate Quality Assurance policies, programs and initiatives to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products. Develop auditing programs as part of the Quality Assurance Program and direct assembly of cost control, statistical data and develop material selection standards to ensure all areas of the organization meet or exceed quality assurance standards. Assist in ensuring overall mission and goals are achieved while meeting company standards and all applicable government regulations. Responsible for Field Services that leads cycle of service and process improvement efforts based upon key drivers of employee and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • This position reports to top management and is responsible for managing the Quality Assurance Department; reports essential data concerning the Quality Assurance Program for Administrative purposes and prepares and controls departmental annual budget

  • Leads and mentors a dynamic team of individuals who constantly search for creative ways to elevate the capabilities of manufacturing systems to meet business needs, partly by capitalizing on emerging technologies and partly by adapting technologies to the needs of the customer. Provides directions to include staff development and training, budget management, feasibility studies, delegation, project and resources control, teamwork coordination and project team constructive feedback as it pertains to individual, project or overall quality performance. Maintains effective, productive and professional working relationship with internal and external customers, third party vendors, and manufacturing management teams

  • Monitors and reports on the status of multiple concurrent project efforts; proactively reviews and interprets performance against operating plans and standards; provides information and reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in plans; presents reports on project performance, changes, enhancements, scope variations, and other related matters and/or participates in key management activities and committees advising manufacturing senior management and business unit project sponsors accordingly.

  • Develop, documents and maintains best practices, project standards, procedures, quality objectives and “lessons learned” including metrics for assessing progress; ensures that manufacturing system process and products are developed in a way that complies with established standards, proactively seeks opportunities to apply technology to expanding business potential, thereby strongly impacting competitive advantage and profitability

  • Direct assembly of cost control and statistical data and plan and establish engineering schedules and follow-up performance against estimates; evaluate contents of reports from Product Assurance Program Department heads and confer with top management personnel preparatory to formulating fiscal budget for Product Assurance Program

  • Develop initial and subsequent modifications of product designs to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements and operational procedures within program, according to and consistent with company goals and policies

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of internal communication programs and process to ensure both management’s and organization’s awareness of compliance issues, activities and federal, state and local regulatory activities that affect technical and quality compliance

  • Identify systematic problems and coordinate with Procedures and Training to develop corrective actions, systems or process changes that will resolve problems and improve operations

  • Develop monitoring process (e.g.: trending and tracking of errors and accidents, inspection findings, and internal audit results) to review and analyze data to determine if modifications or additions to the current QA Program are necessary and create recommendations to ensure organizational compliance.

  • Responsible for Field Service for products sold in Residential Soft Surfaces.

  • Responsible for high-level claims resolution.

  • Serve as primary technical advisory role for any product or vendor liability legal matters. Where required, serves as Mohawk Corporate Representative for matters that go to trial.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline and knowledge of the related field

  • Excellent working knowledge of management process, such as; planning, budgeting, developing and recommendations, organizing and implementing

  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations as they apply to technical operations in a regulated environment

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a regulated industry in progressively responsible positions in the field and including at least 10 years in a quality/regulatory/auditing environment. Industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the principles, techniques and methodology of project, quality, and change management

  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures

  • Working knowledge of Company policies, and a basic understanding of Human Resources laws and regulations as it relates to employee relations and supervision

  • Act as a managerial advisor on professional and technical issues with a view towards reaching strategic decisions; ability to manage conflicting demands for resources through negotiation

  • Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, including the persistence and willingness to take calculated risk, to stimulate, market and sell new ideas within the organization

  • Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and/or crisis and render good decisions to resolve the problems, maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct
