Mohawk Industries CREDIT MANAGER I in CALHOUN, Georgia


Plans, organizes and directs activities of the domestic and/or international credit and collections team function and staff. Coordinates predictive modeling and analysis to rate the collectability of overdue accounts, to segment portfolios, and to allocate resources accordingly. Responsible for building differentiated recovery approaches for various segments of delinquent accounts. Directs the credit and collections of domestic and international accounts by interfacing with internal and external contacts to resolve problems regarding outstanding accounts receivables, customer complaints, and credit evaluation of new and existing customers. Established and maintains excellent working relationships with customer base, Banks, other organizations for trade references and credit agencies. Maintains and ensures continued compliance to company and regulatory laws, policies and processing guidelines, identify, correcting and/and reporting all related non-compliance and fraudulent activity.


  • Directs the team’s activities to ensure efficiency and compliance of collections efforts, processes, and systems. Managers the team activities to ensure overall financial, productivity and operating goals are accomplished; Works with the Manager, Financial Services to develop, implement and administer employee development and incentive programs; ensures appropriate training/retaining plans, tools and material are available to ensure employee and department success.

  • Works with the Manager of Financial Services to ensure team compliance to operating policies and procedures in accordance with corporate and regulatory guidelines, this includes but is not limited to establishing staff approval authority for credit limits, credit lines, write-off, orders and order; establishes external contacts for use as referral sources for information when determining credit worthiness and collecting other credit related information of customers.

  • Directs the activities for and establishes processing standards for the collection of past due accounts and controlling bad debt losses while maximizing sales Uses and trains teams members to use tact, diplomacy and appropriate interpersonal styles and methods, to negotiate and/or to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism when resolving antagonistic situation.

  • Coordinates and prepares monthly collections, statistical, financial, productivity and performance reports as required; analyzes collections and product lines, accounts receivable aging, monthly collection forecast (by identifying known and potential collections problems); identifies discrepancies, low productivity levels, variances, etc. and takes or directs the appropriate action steps needed to resolve the issue and/or inform management.

  • Performs internal team audits; assists the Manager of Financial Services by providing financial, account and statistical data to include but not limited to, past due receivables over 60 days or over $10,000.

  • Works closely with senior management on analysis of business trends, actuals, forecasting and other projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with a minimum of 3 years senior level credit and collections experience or a minimum of five years job specific experience as a commercial credit manager and an equivalent combination of education and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • A minimum of three years in a lead/supervisory capacity, working with diverse work groups.

  • Successful completion of the Dun & Bradstreet Credit and Financial Analyst Level II Course or comparable training/coarse work.

  • Extensive knowledge of Credit and Collections function, related terms, concepts, practices, trends and regulatory requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the departments operating and processing standards, guidelines and policies

  • Extensive knowledge of the Company’s products, services, organizational and functional structure and operating procedures

  • Intermediate computer skills that include Windows, Excel, Word, database, E-mail and other department specific software systems.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact, exercise discretion, judgment and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers, management, and regulatory agencies; ability to communicate with others in an antagonistic situation using, tact, and appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards

  • Knowledge of budgeting and expense control to plan, implement and maximize expenditure of funds while maintaining and improving quality standards

  • Knowledge of employee relations to conduct and deal with employee issues in a proactive manner

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through team efforts, willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions; ability to persuade, market and sell new ideas and the ability to work effectively in a diverse work group

  • Ability to redirect skills to support new technologies while maintaining current commitments; ability to deal in a high-pressure environment and render good decisions to resolve the problems.
