Mohawk Industries PLANT MANAGER I in SUNNYVALE, Texas

Overview:

Plant Manager I for Dal-Tile’s Plant 2 Manufacturing Facility located in Sunnyvale, TX. Direct and coordinate activities of production departments in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties:

Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Ensure safety of the Plant

  • Keep work area clean and orderly

  • Ensure that equipment and workplace are orderly and free from hazards

  • Ensure safety rules are followed by everyone (e.g., personnel, contractors, visitors); ensure area safety rules are communicated and followed by the team

Direction:

  • Provide direction

  • Obtain and deploy resources

  • Establish production priorities to carry out production plan in effective manner

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of production departments

  • Communicate production and quality standards to team

  • Ensure accurate recording/reporting of production and quality results

  • Directly manage supervisors (Press Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor and Production Manager) who, in turn, oversee a total of 120 - 190 employees in the following departments: Press, Glaze Line, Kiln and Selection

Organization:

  • In cooperation with the Corporate Planning Department, compile weekly production schedule based on sales forecast

  • Plan and organize work activities

  • Identify and resolve problems

  • Ensure appropriate setup and adjustment of production lines

  • Monitor test results of materials and products (e.g., glazes, pastes, body, finished tile)

  • Track production results (quality and quantity), and oversee corrective actions

  • Coordinate maintenance activities and technical support as needed

  • Monitor cleaning and maintenance of lines

  • Track production costs

  • Identify and implement cost reduction ideas

Teamwork:

  • Coordinate activities of personnel

  • Deploy employees and resources to meet production and quality goals

  • Prepare manpower projections according to production requirements

  • Provide ongoing feedback, and perform regular Performance Appraisals

  • Ensure that personnel have proper training to perform jobs

  • Address inappropriate behaviors through disciplinary action

Key Interfaces:

  • Coordinate work activities with other departments, including: Safety and Environmental Manager, other production departments and Laboratory, central Maintenance Department, Human Resources for personnel and policy issues, and Italian Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Masters degree in Engineering Management or Materials Science and Engineering plus 4 years of ceramic tile manufacturing experience to include 4 years of each: management experience and use and application of general business practices and basic cost accounting principles. Employer will also accept a Bachelors degree in Engineering Management or Materials Science and Engineering plus 6 years of ceramic tile manufacturing experience to include 4 years of each: management experience and use and application of general business practices and basic cost accounting principles. Experience may be gained concurrently. Travel: less than 5%.
