Responsibilities:

The Team Leader performs various job functions to support the operation on the production Line. The duties range from cleaning the line to directing all aspects of the line operation

  • Must be able to relieve any person in the department.

  • Able to perform and document all quality checks.

  • Able to accurately keep up with all production paperwork in department including: production feedback sheets, pallet tags, and packaging/shipping instructions.

  • Hold start of shift safety and production meetings.

  • Inspect Quality of material and packaging.

  • Ensure that productivity is maximized.

  • Check with planning periodically to discuss schedule changes to maximize saw efficiency.

  • Spot-check employee’s performance.

  • Verify measurements on material behind incoming product and final product.

  • Communicate any problems with the machine and/or material with other team leaders and with planning.

  • Shift people within the department and to other departments if needed to maximize production in the plant.

  • Monitor clean up in and around your department to keep the area neat, clean, and safe.

  • Ensure that your shift cleans up, and sets up enough material and packaging material to allow the other shifts to get off to a good start.

  • Monitor the lift drivers to ensure they are driving safe and that they are checking off their lifts and keeping them blown out.

  • Ensure that the blades are getting changed when necessary, and that they are being taken back to the correct location.

  • Make sure that all employees get their lunch and break but do not exceed their allotted time.

  • Monitor unitime to ensure that the time is accurate. Report tardiness /absences to the Supervisor

  • Promote teamwork with members of you shift along with other shifts by relaying departmental goals and accomplishments daily.

  • Make sure that the operator is running the machine properly. Ex: Loading material correctly, proper saw speeds, correct offstacking information, and proper book heights.

  • Complete job performance counseling on employee’s with substandard performance.

  • Monitor and enforce all safety requirements and enforce the safety point system that is currently in place.

  • Print off employee’s hour simplified report at the end of every pay period and have employees sign off on their actual hours worked.

  • Plan out job responsibilities at every shift change to minimize downtime.

  • Trouble-shoot any mechanical or electrical downtime issue with the operator and maintenance.

  • Contact QC on all out of spec material and ensuring all material is labeled properly.

  • Keep over-run inventory to a minimum and make sure that is used on upcoming orders.

  • Make sure that the 550 driver is pulling and using his partial pallets.

  • Look the saw over while it is running to ensure that it is operating properly, and notify maintenance and your supervisor if it is not.

  • Assist operator with problems with material or issues that take more than one individual can handle.

  • Make sure that the pallet/coverboard areas are kept in neat and orderly shape.

  • Know how to properly lock-out any and all areas of the Angular before entering caged area.

  • Required to complete other duties as assigned.

Please Note: This is a Night shift position 6 pm - 6 am. Subject to change.

Qualifications:

1 yr experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Previous Supervisory experience. *

Forklift Certification to 550

Ability to read a tape ruler and micrometer

Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time on concrete.

Must be able to push or pull 50 lbs frequently and up to 80 lbs occasionally.

Must be able to work in varying temperatures up to 110 degrees and work in a dusty environment.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 80 lbs. occasionally.

Must be able to climb vertical ladders, multiple flights of stairs and work off elevated surfaces.

Must not have any limitations in regards to working in confined spaces.

Must be able to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and steel toe shoes.

Must be able to make repetitive motions involving twisting and turning.

Must be able to kneel and bend over frequently.

Must be able to climb on and work around machinery resulting in awkward or uncomfortable positions.

Must be able to sit and drive a forklift on uneven driving surfaces.

Must have vision of 20/50 (corrected or not).
