The Mechatronics Technician Pre-Apprentice Student will learn steps to provide high level automation integration, advanced troubleshooting and process optimization skills to various plant wide manufacturing and maintenance operations. The pre-apprentice technician in this position will learn to possess advanced electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical skills allowing for complete automation project implementation through PLC programming and integration, VFD and Motion Control integration, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Mechanical installations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Learn to perform hands-on wiring, assembly, programming and documentation of projects and maintenance repairs.
Assists with manufacturing and systems process improvement projects including development, programming, implementation, commissioning and final documentation. Work with a variety of other skilled technicians and contractors on projects are so at to have them completed on time, on budget with the highest degree of quality and workmanship.
Learns to provide diagnosis and repair minimizing downtime, increasing utilization and efficiency. Learn to diagnose repair or replace damaged or broken wires/cables, printed circuit boards, modules, or sensors associated with malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors and motor controllers, lighting circuits and fixtures, temperature controllers, AC and DC drive motor controllers.
Learn to diagnose repair or replace damaged pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical components associated with malfunctioning processes such as pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, bearings, chains and sprockets.
Learn to perform electrical, mechanical, PLC, and routine maintenance duties as required.
Must be enrolled in high school/career academy mechanical/mechatronics/electrical/automotive program.
Must be willing to obtain certification as Mechatronics Technician under the pre-apprenticeship program

Must be able to learn to read and write schematics and drawings to specify new or replacement components for equipment.
Must be able to learn to draw and use blueprints to wire, install, build and troubleshoot electronic and electrical equipment and controls
Ability to learn to test and troubleshoot electrical circuitry with appropriate test equipment. Must be able to analyze problems and correct deficiencies.
Ability to learn to test and repair plumbing systems, and replace parts as necessary. Test for proper operation and integrity
Ability to learn to clean and lubricate equipment, check pressures and spec and correct deficiencies.
Must be able to learn to clean, inspect, and disassemble machinery and equipment. Must be able to evaluate work and broken components to determine status .
Must be able to learn to assemble and reassemble new gaskets, parts, and test reassembled item to determine conformance to standards.
Must be able to learn to test and repaired compressed air and vacuum systems and devices.
Must be able to learn to replace or repair defective components and reassemble system. Test and adjust for correct application.
Must be able to learn to use power tools for structural construction.
Must be able to learn to weld using Oxy-Acetylene, Electric Arc, Soldering, Brazing, Silver Soldering, and Gas shielded welding processes
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and be able to climb and work up to 100 feet.
