1ST SHIFT

This leadership role will direct a team of production supervisors and associates that create the laminated structure and extrusion pelletizing in the LVT process. The process is sophisticated therefore it requires a manager that is driven to understand the technology, savvy to use data to improve the process, and a coach to develop competent production supervisors and associates. This department will be highly flexible and adjust schedules to create the right product required by the customer. This leadership role will direct the production team towards goals in safety, quality and productivity.

  • Manage the laminating process which includes the double belt press, 2 roll calender, laminating line and associated extruders and mixing operations as well as extrusion pelletizing. This part of the process creates some layers of the final product and then laminates all of the layers together to create large panels of the LVT product

  • Process expert for double belt press, 2 roll calender, laminating line and extrusion department

  • Manage and develop production associates that operate the lamination department

  • Coordinate departmental staffing and make necessary arrangements for coverage with shift production supervisors

  • Prioritizing the scheduled work flow of the lamination department to ensure the department is meeting company performance standards, customer specification, and delivery requirements

  • Able to work flexible hours to meet needs as well as direct supervision coverage for vacations, training and project work to support a 24/7 operation

  • Lead the entire LVT process on all shifts

  • Assist in developing and managing annual budgets for the unit cost of the lamination process

  • Drive focus and coordination of resources during machine breakdown periods as well as planned PM events

  • Use SAP to monitor and improve costs as well as inventory consumptions and adjustments

  • Manage data and results using excel and SPC software

  • Clearly communicate the business direction of the LVT plant, the required performance of each associate, and its challenges

  • Establish and manage departmental KPIs, OEE targets and improvement projects

  • Use lean manufacturing practices to achieve department excellence in safety, quality, cost and delivery

  • Act as point of contact for front line leadership on off shifts

  • Work directly with Technical Associates on identifying and prioritizing issues to be addressed

  • Work directly with Process Engineering on process improvement and standardization

  • Drive Safety and 6S culture for department

  • Complete any other assignments as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Degree or adequate experience in related field

  • Working process knowledge of laminating, continuous webs, or vinyls

  • At least 5 years of experience in managing hourly associates

  • Expertise in lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, TPM, and Kaizens

  • SAP experience a plus (will be required to learn)

  • Must be able to use data from SAP to manage costs

  • Must be fluent in Excel and other Microsoft suite products

  • Must be able to work in a cross functional team to design and implement continuous improvement projects

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work flexible hours

  • Able to work under pressure and in a stressful environment

  • Able to manage projects utilizing all available resources to meet budgets and deadlines

  • Must be able to troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills(written/oral/presentation)

  • Must promote an engaging culture; listening and providing concise feedback to supervisors,associatesand upper management.

  • Must be able to administer discipline and performance improvements where needed

  • Strong team player with an ability to be hands on when necessary

Nonessential Skills and Experience :

  • MS Project a plus, but not required

  • HRIS/Payroll system, i.e. Kronos

  • Gravure printing

  • Extrusion a plus, but not required

  • Batch mixing

  • 6S experience a plus

Reporting to this Position :

  • Laminating line production supervisors on 4 designated rotation shifts with approximately 12 hourly associates per shift
